California Pickles: Bubbies

Bubbie is a Yiddish term of endearment for grandmother. This is Kathy Gray's Bubbie. In 1989 John and Kathy Gray purchased the Bubbie pickle business from Leigh Truex, who had started it in 1982.

Bubbies Pickles are made in the Old World style, from an authentic family recipe. The ingredients are simple: pure kosher dill pickles prepared with special herbs and sea salt.

A key differentiator has always been the product's placement in the refrigerated section of markets, rather than on the regular shelves. The extra crunch and zest pickle lovers find in Bubbies Kosher Dills requires cold temperatures from the packing house to the consumer's refrigerator.

Bread and Butter Chips are an unqualified success. Sweet pickle lovers enjoy the crunchy taste. Like all Bubbies products, they are made from only the highest quality and freshest ingredients. Because they are pasteurized, no refrigeration is required.

Outside of California, Bubbies are sold mostly through natural food stores such as Whole Foods, Wild Oats, Sunshine, Westerly or Fresh Fields.

Bubbies are usually available in the better independent natural food stores throughout the country.
